Coconut Buns (·¦µ·»«)
Ingredients:
Flour 200 g
Salt 1/2 level tsp.
Baking powder 2 level tsp.
Desiccated coconut 50 g
Butter 60 g
Sugar 60 g
Egg 1 no.
Milk 0.15 l
Method:
1. Sieve flour, salt, and baking powder together.
2. Rub fat into flour until no lumps of fat are left and the mixture is of bread-crumb
consistency.
3. Add sugar and desiccated coconut.
4. Beat the egg and add the required amount of milk to make up the quantity given.
5. Add the egg and milk mixture, all at once, to the flour.
6. Mix with a fork until a soft, slightly sticky dough is formed. The mixture should
be stiff enough for the fork to stand up in it.
7. Divide into small portions and put them on a greased tray, allowing at least an
inch space all around each one.
8. Rough up each bun with the fork.
9. Put the tray a third of the way down oven, which has been preheated to 400oF.
Bake for 15 - 20 mins.
10. Cool the buns on a wire tray.
